When you’re making a grand gesture, and it happens to be for Rihanna, remember to always go with the billboard. Today, Black-ish actress Yara Shahidi tweeted a picture of a billboard from Drake to Rihanna: “Congratulations to Rihanna from Drake and Everyone at OVO,” it read. According to Pitchfork, the message was probably meant to celebrate Rihanna’s selection as the Video Vanguard Award recipient at the upcoming MTV VMAs, held this Sunday. Later, Rihanna responded to the message on Instagram, and reposted the photo with the caption “When he extra❤🏆!!!” The Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award is the highest honor given at the VMAs, with past recipients including Kanye West, Beyoncé, Justin Timberlake, Beastie Boys, Britney Spears, Madonna, and Michael Jackson.
